Classes & Workshops

At Creation Exploration our goal is to facilitate a connection between our students and nature.  We offer a variety of classes and workshops to this end.  Below is a list of classes that are currently available or in the planning stages.

Classes and workshops can be taught privately or in group settings.

Becoming a Backyard Naturalist

Becoming a Backyard Naturalist is the signature class at Creation Exploration.  This is where we meet under the tree or around the fire to prepare for an exploration.  We learn and then review awareness skills before heading off for a short visit to a special spot where we sit and observe.  After observing, we take a traipse together or roam free for a period of exploration.  This culminates in returning to our group meeting place where we take time to journal something that has caught our fancy, to make notes to explore further during the week, and to share with each other the stories of our adventure.

This course has two options:  The Day Long Exploration Field Trip or The Weekly Nature Study Group.

Day Long Explorations can be scheduled at any time.  Weekly Nature Study Group sessions typically run from 6 - 8 weeks from March to November, depending on weather and interest.

Sessions are approximately 90 minutes in length..

It's Okay to Let Them Play

A workshop for parents on the importance of play in early learning, based on a growing body of scientific evidence and anecdotal reports.  It shows homeschooling parents how to document the learning that occurs through, what appears to be "pointless play"  and provides parents support in their choice to help their children learn in the most natural environment possible.

This workshop runs approximately 45 minutes.

The fee is $25/family.
