Genealogical Research

What does genealogical research have to do with nature connection?  I'm so glad you asked.  Until recent history our ancestors were connected to the land.  They grew their food, they built their homes, they spent time in nature.

As a family historian and genealogist, I have found that connecting with my ancestors has played a significant role in connecting with nature.  Whether it is spending time in cemeteries (and knowing how to avoid the poison ivy that is often lurking there) or learning the survival uses of plants that my forefathers (and mothers) knew and took for granted, my research often leads me from stuffy library stacks to the great outdoors.

It's time to expand the services offered at Creation Exploration to include genealogical research.

Our current fee scale is as follows:

$50 non-refundable deposit which covers administrative costs to set up your research project.

$25/hour for the easy stuff that most people can do through online ancestry databases.  Two hour minimum.

$30/hour for research that involves travel in the local area (Lincolnville to Rockland, Maine) to cemeteries, town offices, court houses and etc.  Two hour minimum.

$50/hour for more in depth research including travel beyond the above listed towns, but within an hour radius of those towns.  Two hour minimum.

Plus expenses:  Additional fees for printed materials, copies, and travel may be added depending on the depth of the project and the needs of the client.

The client will receive a report, and a family tree - either online through an organization such as Family Search, My Heritage or Ancestry.  It is also possible to receive a book format of the information in a .pdf file.
